This was a talk delivered by Swami Nirviseshananda Tirtha in a two-day Vedanta Workshop in Malaysia in January 2020. Here, he discusses the Upanishadic “Exclusive knowledge pursuit” and the “Buddhi Yoga Pursuit” of Bhagavad Gita.

Swamiji describes the Sadhana Chatushtaya (four-fold qualities) which should adorn a seeker of Truth--Viveka (Discrimination), Vairagya (impersonality), Six Inner treasures (shama,dama, titiksha, uparati, shraddha and samadhana). These qualities automatically lead to an intense desire or compulsion for liberation (Mumuksha).

Discussing the Buddhi Yoga pursuit of Bhagavad Gita, Swamiji says that when you do all activities with a Yoga attitude, you become fit for liberation. It can be called a Yoga attitude when the intelligence is anchored in the Self and it takes all directions from the Self within. In
this pursuit, activities themselves become instruments to attain the same Upanishadic Truth.

Swamiji says that the exclusive Vedantic Knowledge pursuit is for a few rare people. But the Yoga Sadhana of Bhagavad Gita is open to all.
