Samatva- The Call of the Bhagavad Gita
Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha
In this track, Poojya Swamiji discusses the Yoga of Samatva.
All the pairs of opposites in this world either in the form of people, events, concepts and imaginations or anything whatsoever give rise to only sukha and duḥkha.
Sukha (happiness) and duḥkha (misery) are the mind resultants of all the interactions and interactional impacts that one has. One has to develop an even attitude towards both sukha and duḥkha.
When one is able to develop this evenness towards them, it is called yoga.
Shlokas chanted in this track:
समत्वं योग उच्यते
samatvaṁ yoga ucyate
(Bhagavad Gita 2.48)
सुखदुःखे समे कृत्वा लाभालाभौ जयाजयौ ।
ततो युद्धाय युज्यस्व नैवं पापमवाप्स्यसि ।।
sukha-duḥkhe same kṛtvālābhālābhau jayājayau
tato yuddhāya yujyasva naivaṁ pāpam-avāpsyasi
(Bhagavad Gita 2.38)
