Just as nature abounds in variety in every sphere, the human society too have tendencies ranging from one extreme to the other. The uniqueness of human life is that we are placed in the midst of all these tendencies and given the freedom to choose what we want.

A pure and sublime mind is the sure source of infinite joy and fulfilment. But it demands a self-purifying pursuit, which does not appeal to many. So, people take to their own ways of worship, fostering many desires and devising various rituals to attain them. But conflicts and contradictions will continue to afflict them until they reinforce spiritual wisdom in their life.

Swamiji introduces us to the four-fold categorization of people based on the inner qualities and their external expression as activities. The human society needs multiple and varied contributions from different quarters, to sustain it. The four-fold categorization ensures that the society blends well together with mutuality and cohesion, thereby facilitating an overall balance and harmony. Though the creator and facilitator of this amazing variety, the ultimate source is not affected by it, It ever remains impartial and impersonal!
