In this satsang, Poojya Swamiji explains the subtle truths about action and its opposite - the inaction, to help us understand them comprehensively and be free from their inauspicious effects.
Although we are busy with various activities throughout the day, we never stop to think what really is meant by action? What is its nature, depth and relevance as far as we are concerned? Swamiji enlightens us that a mere movement of our body cannot be called an action. Only when the mind and intelligence are involved with the organs of action, instilling an attitude and associating an objective, it becomes an action.
All such actions take place only at the object level, that is at the body, senses, mind and intelligence level of our personality. Even when the rest of our personality is intensely active, the 'I', the subject, is not involved in any of these actions nor is affected by their outcome. This is the profound truth behind all actions.
Similarly in non-action, the stillness is applicable only at the body level. Even if the body is motionless, the mind and intelligence will be quite active in thoughts. Thus, non-action is also a fallacy. Swamiji says, one who understands 'karma' and 'akarma' comprehensively and incorporates this dual vision in life, is an enlightened person. That spiritual wisdom will enable him to take up any activity and complete it in a facile and comfortable manner!
