In this Satsang, Swamiji guides the listeners towards a comprehensive understanding of the sublime practice of Yajna.
Elaborating on the various Yajnas, Bhagavad Gita says that some practitioners take to the process of regulating the incoming and outgoing breath and making them even. Some others take to moderating their food intake, Upavasa (fasting) and the restraint of Praanic functions. These practices take away all kinds of spiritual blemishes from one’s personality and have a beneficial effect on both the body and the mind.
Yajna has great significance, relevance and meaning for Sadhakas. Once it is properly and wholesomely understood and practiced, it has a salutary effect on one’s personality. The wholesome practitioner of Yajna finds that his selfishness reduces gradually and he starts thinking about the
welfare of the society, the nation and the globe.
After speaking about the various Yajnas, Sri Krishna cautions that all kinds of Yajnas—the traditional Yajna done with materials, austerity, Yoga, spiritual study, focusing on breathing, regulating food, observing silence etc, --are Karma alone. But if a seeker can drop his ego, selfishness and delusional clinging (sanga), then it will become the greatest form of Yajna (sacrifice). For a person who attains this state, his whole life becomes a Yajna.
