In this talk, Swamiji explores the question of how we should live our lives. He teaches a prayer where the devotee expresses a desire to spend life in constant reverence to the Lord and finding bliss in contemplation on the divine.

Bhaja Govindam exhorts a seeker to reflect on the dangers and unhappiness that can come from wealth and advises against relying on material possessions for happiness. Devotion to the Guru and surrendering to his guidance is extolled as a path to liberation from worldly attachments. A seeker must have exclusive devotion, which entails a mindset of reliance and restfulness on the Guru. Guru Bhakti (devotion to the Guru) is most significant for a seeker, as the Guru guides seekers on their spiritual journey. He gives the Sadhaka something to cling to in the ocean of worldliness.

Listening to and reciting a shloka, the listeners come to understand the importance of worshipping the Divine within. It says that those in whom the Lord resides, experience constant festivity and prosperity. This indwelling Lord must be worshipped constantly in one’s own heart.

In his concluding message of the retreat, Swamiji emphasizes on the need for living effectively by understanding what life is. A seeker must strengthen and refine his own inner personality to move forward in life. Stress and strain can and do arise in life. Spirituality is meant to address and alleviate these frequent challenges. After Swamiji’s message, Nutan Swamiji and Ma give their concluding remarks.
