Introspection based on Sadhana Chatushtaya - Interactive Session with Nutan Swamiji

If in reality we are the Universal Identity, then why are we not able to feel it or act according to it? In this satsang, Nutan Swamiji explains that 'ajnana' (ignorance) is the root cause for it. This ignorance will not go until our 'buddhi' becomes illumined.

Ignorance has got two forces. 'avarana' - which makes us forget our Real identity and 'vikshepa' which makes us feel 'I am this body' and I am different from everything else. From this differential notion, the whole drama of 'worldliness' begins. So, a question naturally arises. We do not have the realisation of our Universal Identity, so is it possible to progress in sadhana until we realise it?

Swamiji enlightens us that we must have faith and acceptance in what Sastras and Gurus say. Even if we do not have the firsthand knowledge of Atma, we can certainly try to incorporate the qualities of Atma in our interactional life - like unaffectedness, impartiality, equanimity etc. When we implant Atma in everything, all our emotions will get moderated. The fragmented mind will become more and more convergent and uniform and we begin to see oneness everywhere. This is the process for all seekers.

The rule of the mind is - whatever it thinks intently about, it develops 'sanga' towards it. So as seekers we must develop 'sanga' towards Atma by spending 'mind hours' on Atma. Then the characteristics of Atma will automatically percolate in us. Everyone can do this sadhana, always. Knowledge has the unique power of purifying and elevating us!
