Poojya Swamiji says that the conversation between Krishna and Uddhava, is the pinnacle and essence of the message of the Bhagavatam.

Uddhava was tormented by the thought of separation from Krishna and requested Lord Krishna to take him along as he couldn’t stay away from him. Krishna urged him to proceed to Badarikashrama and lead of life of contemplation and devotion. Uddhava seeks instruction to do the same and thus began the gospel of 24 chapters. Drawing a contrast between the Gita and the Bhagavatam, Swamiji says that while the Gita instruction was for fighting the war, here it is renunciation which is required.

Krishna was instructing Arjuna on how to fight the war which was extremely difficult to do with an emotional human mind. Arjuna had to be clearly shown the complexity of the world, it’s multiplicity including good and bad. So, Arjuna was shown the ‘Vishvaroopa’ form. Arjuna had to be exposed to the neutral and impersonal nature of the soul and remaining rooted there, he had to witness all the notoriety of the world.

Arjuna witnessed huge, colossal destruction in the darshana which frightened and depressed him. He found Bhishma, Drona, Karna and all others entering through the fierce teeth of Krishna. He saw the whole universe as the only form of God. Through the Vishvaroopa, Krishna wanted to show that every kind of glory, splendor, greatness, magnificence, good, bad or indifferent, all are his manifestations and splendor.

Shlokas chanted in the track:

ऋतेऽपि त्वां न भविष्यन्ति सर्वे

(Bhagavad Gita-11.32)
