This talk is the sixth in a series of talks given by Nutan Swamiji during the Enlightened Living Retreat at Jamshedpur on 23 Nov 2019.

In this Global Satsang, Swamiji delves into the Kathopanishad verses and connects them to the Sadhana of a seeker of Truth.

When Nachiketa proves his sincerity and dedication to know the Supreme Truth, Lord Yama begins his instruction saying: “All Vedas speak only about the One Truth. All the austerities, that the scriptures prescribe, are only to attain the one goal. Many people take to life-long celibacy aspiring to attain the Supreme goal. I will tell you about that state, that goal, in essence. It is represented by Om.”

The Omkara alone is the imperishable Brahman; it is the Supreme Brahman. Knowing this, one will be in harmony with the fundamental law of nature. The Omkara is the Supreme refuge or support for a seeker. Knowing this support in essence, one attains Brahman. If one takes to the Sadhana with full dedication, it will lead one to the ultimate goal of life.

Nachiketa’s initial query had been to know the truth about death. In reply to this, Yamaraja speaks about the immortality of the Soul. The ‘I’ in all beings (the Self) is neither born nor does it die. It is unchanging, imperishable. It has not been caused by anything and it also does not cause anything. It transcends causality. The Atma does not die when the body dies.
