Ramayana and Hindu Dharma
Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha
Swamiji details how the Epics are not mere historical descriptions, but actually give through them, the values and inspiring lives of all the characters. Ramayana was composed by Sage Valmiki, who got transformed from the dacoit Ratnakara into a saint. Through the close association of the saints, he got free from all his sins. Through the poetic composition of the Ramayana, Sage Valmiki depicts the life of Maryada Purusha Shree Rama as well as all the characters in the kingdom of Ayodhya during the Treta Yuga.
Swamiji speaks about the degradation of this lofty Dharma of our country today. There are malpractices in the temples and other religious worships. Various practices are polluting the minds and the society at large, instead of making people inculcate purity through the devotional practices. In this talk, Swamiji gives a clarion call not to fall a trap to these wrong doings in the name of devotion.
