Renunciation is of the Mind

Swamiji reminds us that activity is the nature of life. Sannyasa (renunciation) does not mean inactivity. Sannyāsa or renunciation can only be of the clinging that one has towards activities and its results. That sanga-tyāga alone is possible.

We are active because of nature’s compulsions, not because of option. Our gunas (Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas) force us to act. During all activities, one must keep away from delusional clinging.

The renunciation Bhagavad Gita speaks about is renunciation only of ego, desire and sanga (delusional clinging). The competence of a seeker is only for working and achieving his spiritual goal through work by developing the attitude of evenness, not for taking to a life of seclusion.

The Shlokas chanted in the Track:

न हि कश्चित्क्षणमपि जातु तिष्ठत्यकर्मकृत् ।

Bhagavad Gita 3.5

सिद्ध्यसिद्ध्योः समो भूत्वा समत्वं योग उच्यते ।।

Bhagavad Gita 2.48
