How to Remove Hatred from the Mind
Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha
A seeker must not overlook austerity in eating, reading and in interactions, says Swamiji. The ashram is a place for Jnana sadhana which involves working on the mind and its emotions, intelligence and its reasoning. On the bodily level, we must apply sensory restraint. The goal is regulation and refinement which alone helps us get joy and fulfillment in our mind. Bhagavad Gita says that he whose senses are under his regulation, his mind and intelligence will be stable.
A seeker must be free from delusional clinging and have no hatred for any creature on earth. When we fail to remove hatred from our mind, our sadhana becomes wasteful. This hatred neither helps us nor the other. In life, we will meet people with unacceptable qualities. Just as we say that a thief is a wrongdoer, to hate him makes us also a wrongdoer.
A Sadhaka must think about this Sadhana seriously, which is a mental and an intelligential emergence. There must be a complete absence of hatred and inimical feeling in the mind. We must make this a mental pursuit (manana), to remove impurities and absorb the noble qualities within us.

मत्कर्मकृन्मत्परमो मद्भक्तः सङ्गवर्जितः ।

Bhagavad Gita 11.55
