Referring to our personality, Swamiji says that we have a gross body which cannot be changed. The change and improvement qualities are possible only within the mind, intelligence and ego.

Devotion is an emotion arising in the mind. When we think of a supra-worldly factor like God, then devotion springs in the mind. Devotion starts growing and becomes easy when we think of God in a wholesome manner. We must see the world as Godly and divine. We must expand and enlarge our devotion, by seeing God in the entire creation. We must see ourselves as children of God. We must talk to God, as with a friend, expressing all our emotions. Just as God is in everyone, unaffected and unconcerned, we must talk to him wishing to practice the same qualities he has. Whatever be the means, our mind should be riveted to God. This is all fold devotion. We must foster an unbroken relationship with God.

We must be loving and considerate to others, and never dwell on their defects. Any quality that we want to develop, wish and feel we should have, we must keep thinking about that quality and it will automatically be imbibed by us. The very feeling of wanting a quality makes that quality start to grow within us. We must rely upon God who is the great treasure house of all qualities. It is only a question of fondness and commitment on our part, to acquire them.
