Indifference to Dreams
Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha
In this talk, Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha explains the phenomenon of dream and very clearly states that since one has no control over dreams, the best way to handle dreams is to be indifferent and unaffected by them.
Love, hatred and fear do affect the mind in the waking state and these unpleasant thoughts may also appear in dreams, which has to be filtered out just like happenings in air or sky.
Rarely, dreams do give some constructive suggestions which are useful to resolve some pertinent issues in the waking state. For this, Swamiji quotes a real life event of a carpenter who got instructions from his forefathers in his dream. However, Swamiji repeatedly stresses not to get influenced by dreams and instead to be indifferent to them.
