In this Satsang, Swamiji explains what real liberation, real freedom is. Liberation is attaining freedom from all the shackles and bondage of the mind and intelligence.

Arjuna was assailed by grief, doubts, delusion, fear, and ignorance, in the battlefield of Kurukshetra. We are also in the grip of these. When a seeker reforms the mind, refines the intelligence, and cultivates wholesome purity, then he is liberated. Restraining and sublimating the mind, whoever is free of the grip of desires and hatred, Brahma Nirvana encircles them wherever they go, says Bhagavad Gita.

One is bound by ignorance, lack of introspection and lack of enquiry about one’s own real identity. But the same person will become liberated when he takes up introspection and takes up the search for the knowledge of one’s own real identity.

A Yogi keeps away from all external, sensory experiences, and focusses his vision between the eyebrows. He makes the incoming and outgoing breaths equal, within the nostrils. What is the fruition of spiritual Sadhana? One who is able to restrain the senses, mind and intelligence, who is given to silence, who, having an intense devotion to liberation, is able to rise above desires, fear and anger, is ever-liberated.

Swamiji emphasizes that a seeker can be free of desires, fear, and hatred by a process of introspection. One must understand that they are emotions arising only in the surface of the infinite and potent mind. Emotions are just like waves in the inner ocean. By understanding the infinite nature of the inner presence, a seeker can subdue the emotions rising in the mind and remain unaffected, just as the sea is not overwhelmed or affected by the waves arising on its surface.
