Devotional Practice should be complemented by Infusional Introspection
Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha
A devotee may be practicing many disciplines in his daily life. But, he must question and introspect whether he is gaining closeness to his dear Lord.
The Sadhana of a devotee is to strive for expansion and purification of his being. The transformation should be brought about in the mind, helped by the intelligence. Intelligence is the only tool which can act upon the mind and bring about the transformations the seeker wants. This transformation will come not by an expression, but by an infusion, by an absorption.
The practice of devotion is meant to bring about devotional transformation in the devotee. The first and last person to be benefitted by the worship or prayer is the devotee himself. So, with every devotional practice, there must be a sublimity and divinization taking place in the devotee.
Understanding that God is everywhere and in everything, the devotee must prostrate before everything. Prostration is an expression, but thinking and inducing in the mind a sense of divinity towards all is an introspectional process. The responsibility of bringing about the transformation rests with the devotee and he should always try for that. By expression, the change may not come, but by infusion it will come instantly.
