Nutan Swamiji's session three, during the Bhagavad Gita Retreat conducted in Irvine, California during the USA Jnana Yajna 2024.
Location: Fairfield Inn & Suites Marriott Tustin Orange County, Newport Ave, Tustin, CA 92780
Date: 22 June 2024
In this talk, Swamiji gives the summary Sadhana or practice for a seeker of Truth. Through some cardinal verses of the Bhagavad Gita, he shows us how to apply the spiritual knowledge in all actions and interactions and to divinize every moment of our life.
Sri Krishna says that a seeker must offer all activities to the Supreme, and give Supreme the supreme position in his life. His mind must resort to buddhi yoga (intelligence must be established in the Self).
How do all activities become an offering to the Lord? When all activities are done without desires, everything becomes an offering to the Lord. The performer renounces all ownership of the action and renounces all the impacts of the action too. He is ready to accept both success and failure of the action. So, Bhagavad Gita does not speak about external Sannyasa but the inner renunciation of ego, possessiveness, and desires.
While performing all activities, one must abide constantly in the Self. When the intelligence is anchored in the Self, the mind also will be absorbed in the Supreme. When this mento-intellectual refinement is attained, then one does whatever is necessary, joyfully, excellently.
How do knowers of Truth worship the Lord? Knowing that the Supreme is the source of everything, they worship the Supreme with all their feelings and emotions. Being wholesomely identified with the Self, they speak, discuss about, and revel in the Self alone. Being constantly connected with the Supreme, they worship the Lord with love and fondness. Such a person attains Buddhi Yoga, by which he attains the Supreme.
In the latter part of the session, Swamiji gives clear, concise replies to questions raised by the participants. He gives clarifications about the qualities of a knower, the Consciousness, Prakriti, Sanatana Dharma, and about purifying the mind.
