Nutan Swamiji's concluding session of the Bhagavad Gita Retreat conducted in Irvine, California during the USA Jnana Yajna 2024.
Location: Fairfield Inn & Suites Marriott Tustin Orange County, Newport Ave, Tustin, CA 92780
Date: 23June 2024
In the concluding session of the Retreat, Swamiji begins with the discussion of surrender, the ultimate sadhana. We may feel that we have surrendered to the Lord, but we never come to know whether it is real surrender or not. The real test of surrender happens only in the presence of the Guru. We find that our own wish and will interfere and we are not able to wholesomely adhere to all the guidance of the Guru.
Identified with the supreme Consciousness, Krishna exhorts Arjuna to be completely devoted to him. A seeker also must follow the same instruction, wholesomely following the words of the Guru, who has realized the Truth.
Through slide presentations, Swamiji discusses the uniqueness of the Bhagavad Gita instruction, the vision, and the core message of the Bhagavad Gita. It is a revolutionary gospel which was given in a war field and not in a peaceful hermitage. It demonstrates the applicability of the message in daily life and challenging situations. Krishna is exhorting Arjuna to fight, transcending all the limitations and constrictions of the mind.
What is the Bhagavad Gita pursuit? Instead of considering interactions as a hindrance to spiritual pursuit, all interactions are to be used as an instrument to attain the spiritual goal. Anybody engaged in any field of activity can pursue this Yoga, provided he sincerely wants the growth and enrichment. Instead of seeking divinity in seclusion, Bhagavad Gita exhorts us to divinize our life and activities in the world. By this, the whole focus shifts from God to the human personality.
How to make actions an instrument for liberation? Sri Krishna urges Arjuna to take refuge in Buddhi Yoga, where the intelligence is anchored in the Atma. Bhagavad Gita instructs all seekers to always remain identified with the Atma (one’s own real identity). Performing any action, the mind must be free of desires and must not look for any personal gain or happiness from anything in the world.
