In this Satsang, discussing the concluding verse of the fifth chapter of Bhagavad Gita, Swamiji emphasizes that Sannyasa is not external renunciation but a mento-intellectual refinement, sublimation, and enlightenment. A self-restrained seeker, who has transcended the bondage of desires, fear, and anger, is ever-liberated.
Sri Krishna’s body was born of Devaki. His birth was a biological process, which has nothing to do with the consciousness which animates and activates the inert body. Sri Krishna, being a knower, spoke from the dimension of the Supreme. He told Arjuna: “Anybody who knows me as the partaker, enjoyer of all Yajnas (sacrifices) and Tapas (austerity), as the Supreme Lord of the world, and as the benefactor and friend of all beings, he attains peace.
The Bhagavad Gita speaks about the Supreme and imperishable presence within the body. It is birthless, deathless, it is eternal, imperishable and is denoted by the term ‘I’. Kathopanishad says that the ‘I’, indeed, is the imperishable Brahman; it is the transcendental, imperishable Truth. It should be known as the imperishable, impartial, ever-present, luminosity within. Once a seeker knows it, whatever he desires or covets becomes his.
The inner presence is all-pervading. One who realizes that it is so, he alone is the physical representative of the Supreme Truth. So, Sri Krishna spoke to Arjuna as a Sadguru, being the representative of the supreme Truth, being established in the Truth. In various contexts, in various verses in the Bhagavad Gita, Sri Krishna speaks from the position of the Supreme. Quoting some of them, Swamiji emphasizes that it is not Krishna alone who can speak from this lofty pedestal. Anyone who realizes the ‘I’ within, identifies with the imperishable, inner presence, will and can speak from this Supreme pedestal.
