In this Global Satsang, in continuation of the previous week’s Satsang, Swamiji is giving a brief, but whole, picture of Bhagavad Gita. He is describing the essence of the Bhagavad Gita Sadhana, explaining various concepts, so that seekers can understand them and apply them in their own lives.

Sannyasa: When one does all actions without delusional clinging to the outcome of the work, such a person is a Sannyasi and a Yogi. The work may be in any field (professional, domestic or societal), but it must be done with an inner, Yogic orientation.

Elevating oneself: Bhagavad Gita urges seekers to elevate themselves, by their own minds. Each individual is an architect of his/her own fate. For one, who has become master of himself, his own mind is his friend. But one who is lacking in inner enrichment, his mind is his own enemy.

Moderation: For one who is given to moderation in recreation, actions, sleep and wakefulness—for such a person the buddhi yoga (samatva) redresses all his grievances and torments.

Developing a Yogic vision: When the equal vision (Samatva) is developed, the individual starts perceiving the same Self in all beings, and all beings as dwelling in the Self. It is an attitudinal orientation. The best Yogi is one who perceives the same Self everywhere, whether it is a pleasant or an unpleasant situation.

A yogi’s spiritual practice will never be vain. A Yogi is greater than all hardcore ascetics, the spiritually wise and erudite people, and greater than people who are given to sacrosanct Vedic rituals. So, Bhagavad Gita urges all seekers to become a Yogi.

Universal vision: Everything in the world is connected to God, like pearls in a string. Sri Krishna showed Arjuna the Vishwaroopa (his universal form). But what is real Vishwaroopa? It is seeing God in the entire universe, which is a manifestation of the Lord. He is the source and support for the entire creation. So, a seeker must perceive the Lord in everything, in the entire universe.

Attaining the Lord: The supreme Lord cannot be attained by austerity, charity or sacrifices. He can only be known by unswerving, exclusive devotion. By devotion (which is an attitude of the mind), one will be able to understand the Lord, perceive him as omnipresent, and finally enter into his universal
dimension.

Making everything Divine: A seeker must transform everything he does into a Godly act, doing everything for the sake of the Lord. One who works for the sake of God, considers Him to be supreme, is devoted to Him, is free of all delusional clinging, and has no animosity towards anyone, attains the Lord.

Swamiji urges all to understand that the source of the entire creation is God. One must do all work, with the understanding that the body, organs and all the faculties are given by God and all activities are designed by God. Thinking in this expansive manner, one must live a wholesome life, with confidence, enrichment, and expansion.
