Ma Gurupriya ji's reflections on Poojya Swamiji's morning messages (Prabhata Rashmih)
Date: 09 December 2024
Venue: Vijnana Bhavan, Narayanashrama Tapovanam

In this Satsang, Ma explains the deeper import of the chapter ‘Self-Everywhere’, in Poojya Swamiji’s book— 'Prabhata Rashmih (Vol 1)’. She urges seekers to introspect on the deep messages again and again and to apply them in life.

How to overcome likes and dislikes? If spiritual sublimation is the goal, one must cheerfully do what one would not like to do and also be prepared not to do what one would like to do. One must find joy in accepting any situation. A seeker must understand that likes and dislikes are expressions of the same self.

In meditation, a seeker may attain Samadhi. But the moment he is out of the Samadhi state, he is again in the grip of the plural world. So, he must gain an understanding that although meditation is an important aspect of the life of contemplation, it is not the be all and end all of spiritual life.

So, what is spiritual wisdom? It is an understanding, an enlightenment, which takes away all differential notions from the mind and the intelligence. It is to stop differentiating between the spiritual & non-spiritual, Self & non-self. Ultimate spiritual wisdom is when the seeker realizes that there is the Self and Self alone. He perceives the oneness in everything. All the plurality gets dissolved in the oneness of the Self. This unbroken realization of the Oneness is the pinnacle of spiritual pursuit.

A knower realizes that Sukha and duhkha are the expressions of the Self alone. The Self alone is revealed in both Sukha and duhkha. He understands that the Supreme interpenetrates the whole of creation, remaining completely unaffected by anything happening in creation. When one realizes the Self and identifies with the Self, he also remains unaffected by all events. He remains unaffected by all the changes in the body, mind, intelligence, and the world. He does not miss the Self in any experience or awareness.

Ma stresses that the Self is unaffected. We must do everything but, in and through all activities and interactions, we must strive to remain unaffected. Unaffectedness is liberation. During the wakeful hours, in all actions and interactions, a seeker must remain connected to the Self.

Shlokas chanted in the Satsang:
