Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha further consolidates the catursutri (four aphoristic statements) of verse 2.47 which he discussed brilliantly in the last Satsang, before going into the next catursutri of verse 2.48, to give us a pristine and complete understanding of what karma yoga really means.
Every activity bestows the elevating effect of karma yoga only when it is performed with the intelligence anchored to the Self, in the yogic attitude of having no sanga (delusional clinging) to the outcome, and having samatva (equanimity) toward both fruition and non-fruition of the task. It is therefore a purely mento-intellectual pursuit, which can transform even a purely physical task. In order for this transformation to take place the performer, the action and the understanding with which it is performed, must be guided by sattva guna, the crucial quality of Nature characterized by brilliance and light.
Every word uttered by a Saint is a vehicle carrying sattva guna to the listeners. We are indeed immensely blessed to have Swamiji patiently and tirelessly exposing these Truths in a rational, precise and practical manner, empowering us to live lives of true excellence.
