Essential Qualities of a Seeker of Truth
This three-day discourse was delivered by Swami Nirviseshananda Tirtha in the Gurupoornima Retreat at Narayanashrama Tapovanam, Kerala.
Sadhana Chatushtayam has been clearly discussed in Vivekachoodamani (the last work of Adi Shankaracharya). It is the four-fold way of self-purification and making oneself fit for the Supreme knowledge. Through this exposition, Swamiji makes it simple and applicable for the listeners.
Swamiji says that Viveka (Discrimination), Vairagya (Dispassion), Six Inner treasures (Shama, dama, titiksha, uparati, sraddha and samadhana) automatically leads to an intense desire or compulsion for liberation. Freedom from the shackles of suffering and ego effacement are the end result of these virtues.
Discussing Discrimination, Swamiji says that Bhagavad Gita is a unique gospel of Viveka where Krishna shows the way to transform all secular activities into Sadhana. The soul dimensions of impersonality and universal love when applied in all activities bestows a seeker with placidity and equanimity.
