In our knowledge pilgrimage, we are trying to understand how the One Atma appears as many and how it remains unaffected by the incessant changes happening all around?

In this enriching satsang, Swamiji explains that - like the natural light, which has no form of its own, reveals many different forms of objects which it illumines, the Atma too reveals many forms and qualities of the persons/objects it is manifesting through - though devoid of all forms and qualities itself.

This revealing of the objective qualities does not affect the Atma the least - just like the appearance, distortion and disappearance of the reflected image of Sun in the waves does not affect the real Sun. Swamiji says, it is only because Atma is unaffected, that it is able to reveal everything.

Our mind cannot easily conceive of anything devoid of objective qualities. When we think of I, we always associate it with some objective parameters. For this reason, it becomes difficult to comprehend our Real identity. Swamiji cautions us that as long as these tendencies persist, we will not be able to know the real Self.

A knower looks at this world as a vivarta srishti - like a dream creation, an appearance in consciousness. Whether there is joy or sorrow, he doesn't consider it as his own. He ever remains the unaffected witness.
