Swami Nirviseshananda Tirtha

02 – Bhagavad Gita – Chapter 14 – by Swami Nirviseshananda Tirtha – Transforming our Personality

700 Views | 10 months ago

In this talk, Swamiji reiterates the message of the Bhagavad Gita. He says that the Bhagavad Gita is trying to divinize our entire life and activities. Our sadhana lies in understanding that our true happiness lies in becoming self seated and not being a slave of the objects around us.

Swamiji clarifies the concept of the 'kshetra and kshetrajna' presented in chapter 13 of the Bhagavad Gita. He explains that the Kshetra or the body-mind complex is nothing but an appearance in the Kshetrajna the true indweller, which is all pervading and all-encompassing. Our sadhana lies in understanding that just as the sun reveals the objects in this material world, so also the Self reveals the external world and the inner world of thoughts, emotions, feelings etc.

The seeker, Swamiji emphasises, must introspect and understand this knowledge and take refuge in this supreme Truth. The method is to cultivate the qualities enumerated in the Bhagavad Gita which will take the seeker from selfishness to selflessness or expansion. The sadhaka must identify himself with this universal presence.
