Prabhata Rashmih - The Role of a Guru

A Knower to Uplift a Tormented Mind

Quoting from the Yogavashishta Ramayana, Poojya Swamiji speaks about Sri Rama’s journey. When he was 16, he undertook a pilgrimage, but returned dejected and despondent.

Rama described the nature of the world and human relationships and sought relief from Vashishta. In the 18-day dialogue that followed, Vashishta discussed the human mind. He also discusses the intelligence which has the power to act upon the mind and improve it.

A knower of truth will always relieve us of our plight, our doubts. In the presence of a Mahatma, the state of void becomes full and complete. Death is transformed into a festivity. A calamity gets transformed to a gain, a fortune. The same happened with Rama. He had a dialogue with Vashishta, by which he was illumined and enlightened. By this dialogue and the subsequent enlightenment, he could abandon the kingdom when asked to, with ease and felicity.

Shlokas chanted the Track:

शून्यमाकीर्णतामेति मृत्युरप्युत्सवायते ।
आपत्संपदिवाभाति विद्वज्जनसमागमे ।।

Laghu-Yogavāsiṣṭha: 2.1.80
