In this track, Swamiji discusses the Karma Yoga of Bhagavad Gita.
Explaining verse 2.47, Swamiji says that all actions will definitely produce results. The objective result is inseparable from activity. It is inevitable. Bhagavad Gita does not speak about external outcomes of work. On the other hand, it speaks about our attitude, responses and reactions to whatever we are doing and getting. Sri Krishna tells Arjuna: “Your right, competence is only to be active. And while you are active, take away your clinging from the results of what you do.”
Whenever one does work, that work produces a certain clinging for it in the mind, a delusional clinging. That delusional clinging is called saṅga. The Sanga makes us feel that we must have a particular desired effect. When the expected result does not come, we get upset. Bhagavad Gita urges one to do all work but being free of the delusional clinging.
