Prabhata Rashmih – Making Devotion Wholesome

Devotion Belongs to the Devotee, not God

The whole spiritual pursuit proceeds from oneself, rests on oneself and concludes in oneself. Whether it is the path of devotion, the path of wisdom, karmayoga or the path of yoga, it is primarily going to benefit the seeker alone.

Bhagavatam says that a devotee who worships an idol is uncultured and uninformed. The middle level devotee fosters love and fondness for God. But the best devotee is one who uses the cord of his own devotion and love to tie the feet of the Lord, so that the Lord can never get out of his heart. This kind of devotion is supreme.

Swamiji urges listeners to cultivate goodness and sublimity, ensure that one’s speech is harmless and benign and ensure that one’s thoughts are focused on the imperishable Truth.

Shlokas chanted in the Track:

विसृजति हृदयं न यस्य साक्षाद्धरिरवशाभिहितोऽप्यघौघनाशः |
प्रणयरसनया धृताङ्घ्रिपद्मः स भवति भागवतप्रधान उक्तः ।।
