Every Exhortation in Bhagavad Gita relates to the Mind and Intelligence
Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha
Discussing some verses from the Bhagavad Gita, Swamiji discusses Yoga in great depth and detail.
We interact with the world and everything that follows is an outcome of interactions. The sense organs on their own do not have the power to function, without the guidance of the mind. So, our entire life is based on the mind. This mind can be acted upon only by the intelligence which has knowledge as the quest.
Our entire life is an expression and extension of the mind, and all our problems are mind problems, which can be resolved by the intelligence alone. Our intelligence must generate whatever is needed to enrich and empower the mind consistently. This conjugation between mind and intelligence is what is termed as Yoga. Yoga is never external, nor sensory and physical. It is always inner, bearing upon the mind and intelligence.
Krishna also discusses Bhakti as a Yoga, which is based upon the mind and intelligence. A true devotee is one who is able to remain contented and joyful always. Contentment and joy are created and generated by the mind. Swamiji points out, that, if joy is a creation of the mind, then we must make our mind generate as much joy as one wants. This is called Yoga. Surrender also is another aspect of devotion. A seeker must offer his mind and intelligence to the Guru or the Lord.
So, all the exhortations of Sri Krishna are Sadhana relating to the mind and intelligence.
Shlokas chanted in the Track:
सन्तुष्टः सततं योगी यतात्मा दृढनिश्चयः ।
मय्यर्पितमनोबुद्धिर्यो मद्भक्तः स मे प्रियः ।।
