How to retain what you hear
Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha
In this talk, Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha guides all seekers on how to retain what is heard. This quality helps not only in spiritual development, but also in every aspect of life. He makes us aware that one should observe oneself, the world and people around, to listen attentively, think, reflect, introspect and improve oneself, by remembering the qualities; cherishing them, developing them within, and most importantly act upon whatever is heard and remembered.
Swamiji declares that to develop any quality, one should give fifty mind hours, with integrity and fervour, so that it becomes retained as one’s own quality. He also suggests that before going to bed, one should once again recollect and remember the qualities and the readiness to act upon them. In fact, Swamiji states that even a little forgetfullness is good, so that one develops a sensitivity to remember and retain the qualities that have been heard, and only then a refinement happens.
