Swami Bhoomananda Tirthaji, in this talk, makes us realise that whatever we do, it is only to make our mind peaceful, stable, poised, and comfortable. Any action is done in order to bring forth the mind into it. The effect of an action is proportionate to how much it involves the mind, and reforms, and refines it.

Worship or Pooja should bring about mental refinement, reformation and sublimation.The external activities are preliminary, but thoughtfulness and introspection should take over and mind and intelligence should be the main focus.

Shankaracharya says that ignorance gives rise to desire and desire is the seed cause of whatever we do. This one statement is sufficient to introspect over and over to understand that because of our desire the mind gets agitated and contaminated. There is a way to live in this world without desire. Desire is a constriction and without desire a mind is free and full. This introspection must be a constant process in the mind.

Swamiji says that introspection is a million times more effective than mere worship, it is far superior to worship before an idol with flowers and fruit.
