This talk is extremely thought-provoking and compels us to reflect deeply on how each one of us should conduct ourselves in our lives. A seeker must take to a process of self-assessment whether his actions have a qualitative refinement. To be good a devotee means not only being soft spoken, reasonable, proper, firm and decisive, but also one who has been able to culture himself as a qualitative person.
Srimad Bhagavatam says that a devotee/seeker must be friendly to all creatures and beings, being kind and considerate to all. One must have a loving nature, having sympathy and concern for others. Love should be accompanied by sympathy, and both should lead to sacrifice. Love, Sympathy and Sacrifice are the three basic virtues we all have to cultivate. Thus, the whole inner personality becomes softer, gentler, more and more considerate, and to the extent our qualities grow, a divine feeling starts to grow within us. The qualities grow so subtly that, a pleasantness rises in our system.
Swamiji urges us to practice emotional tenderness, adopting it as a lifestyle change, loving and caring for everything. We must extend this tenderness even to the articles we use. No matter how mundane or simple our task , keeping everything clean and in order should be inculcated. This will make one a better and softer person.
