Prabhata Rashmih - Nurturing Good Qualities

Manana to Imbibe a Quality - I

Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha

  • Manana to Imbibe a Quality - I

    Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha

The Guru expects repeated manana from the disciple, says Swamiji. He urges us to incorporate the desirable and eliminate the undesirable qualities. Our inherent nature has both desirable and undesirable qualities. As we interact with the world, we recognize both and the shastras also help us understand this.

Once we recognize the undesirable within us, we must work to eliminate them. The pursuit of life is to incorporate desirable and eliminate the undesirable. Swamiji asks us to spend sufficient mind hours on each quality, so that it becomes part of us. Mind should be applied so that the quality becomes part of us. 50 mind hours are required to imbibe any quality. The mind must be embossed with the quality and gradually it will be embellished with the quality.
