Mind and the Self
Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha
In this message, Swamiji says that all actions are initiated by the mind, sustained by the mind and dissolved by the mind. So, mind is the sole focus of an individual’s life.
Normally, the mind is outgoing. This outgoing tendency has to be avoided and the seeker must make an effort to rest the mind on the Self. When the mind rests on the Self, it will slowly give up desires for external objects. When the mind becomes free of external desires, the Self experience one has will not be limited to meditational hours, but it will extend to all activities and interactions.
Shlokas chanted in the Track:
यथा यथा प्रत्यगवस्थितं मनः
तथा तथा मुञ्चति बाह्यवासनाम् ।
निःशेषमोक्षे सति वासनानां
आत्मानुभूतिः प्रतिबन्धशून्या ॥
(Vivekacūḍāmaṇiḥ 276)
