  • Objective Actions call for Right Understanding, Not Detachment

    Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha

Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha in this talk, removes all misconceptions regarding activities and their ensuing results.

In the guise of spirituality, one resorts to indifference and escapism from activities, especially if the results are unfavorable. Every action will definitely have results, which are either favorably successful, unfavorably unsuccessful or a mixture of both. Instead of getting unduly lost in the delight due to the expected result or getting agitated with the unfavorable results and thus resorting to escapism, wrongly labelling it as detachment, is to be avoided. This is the message of the Bhagavad Gita.

Swamiji stresses that since activities and their results are mutually dependent, one should remove all the knots from the mind and get enriched with all activities to make it expanded like the sky, flexible and reconciling with the fruits as well as perform all activities with enthusiasm and dedication. This is dexterity in action and purity of the mind.
