Our mind and intelligence are usually employed in the sensory field. But when one becomes spiritual, the intelligence must be employed to conduct enquiry, in understanding our scriptures and subtle propositions. The intelligence must enquire into what is the Supreme Reality, Brahman, or God. One must try to understand what is beyond the intelligence and draw strength from the inmost Source.
First a seeker must reform and moderate the sensory, oral, mental and intellectual layer of the personality. Then only one can overcome desires and greed which are subduing the senses, mind and intelligence. This process of enquiry is accomplished by the mind and intelligence only. Desire is always constricting. When the mind is free of desires, the mind comes into an all-fold expression.
A seeker must utilize and harness the mind and intelligence. The whole process is to purify the mind by reforming and refining it and sharpening the intelligence to make it comprehend the Presence within (The Soul). It is the same presence, which is inside and outside, everywhere, says Swamiji.
