Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha
In this talk, Swamiji analyzes the three states of deep sleep, dream and wakefulness. In sleep, one is disconnected from the world, from the body, from the mind, from the intelligence, from the ego. From this sleep, dream occurs where one is in another wakeful state with a new body, new mind, new relatives and friends, objects etc.
In the wakeful state, although we think that we are seeing external objects, the real perception is happening inside. The mind produces imprints of objects which we are able to cognize. Perception is taking place in the perceiving consciousness within the body and that is neither material nor energial. So, all the three states are within, in the consciousness.
When one understands the truth of the three states in this manner, automatically one’s clinging becomes weaker and weaker, one’s attachments grow thinner and thinner, one become stronger and stronger. The entire world becomes bubbles floating in one’s inner mind.
