Prabhata Rashmih - The Practice of Sadhana

Titiksa - the quality of forbearance

  • Titiksa - the quality of forbearance

    Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha

In this Talk, Swami Bhoomananda details the quality of Titiksha / Forbearance, which is one of the qualities that a Seeker of Truth should cultivate. In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna urges Arjuna to develop Titiksha in order to redress his mental grief.

Mankind is always faced by many kinds of suffering. But a seeker must never complain, lament or get trapped in self-pity, when faced with these sufferings.

Swamiji inspires us to have reliance on the Supreme Truth and make the mind flexible to absorb, assimilate and reconcile the sufferings that come in life, without criticizing and lamenting. The mind should be flexible enough to contain, assimilate and be enriched by all kinds of inputs, plights and fates!

Shlokas chanted in the Track:

सहनं सर्वदुःखानामप्रतीकारपूर्वकम् ।
चिन्ताविलापरहितं सा तितिक्षा निगद्यते ।।
