  • Ways to Control the Mind

    Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha

In this talk, Swamiji says that scriptures explain and analyze the human mind in various ways. It is said that the mind is a complex thing which is difficult to master.

One has to gain victory over his mind. The mind can become very notorious, very mischievous, very turbulent, some of its pet emotions may be very difficult to overcome. But a seeker has to make a sincere effort to gain mastery over it. When the mind is in grief or is mischievous, one may try some physical process to bring it in control. When one takes to some physical exercise, then automatically the mind will shift from its misery and start focusing on the exercise. Slowly, the mind will become docile, and the suffering of the mind will reduce.

Shlokas chanted in the Track:

हस्तं हस्तेन संपीड्य दन्तैर्दन्तान् विचूर्णयन्
अंगान्यंगैः समाक्रम्य जयेदादौ स्वकं मनः
