Swamiji says that the resolute nature of intelligence is very important for a seeker to have. The intelligence is that faculty which puts all inputs, taken by the mind, to a close analysis. It processes the information that the mind provides, then compares and contrasts and arrives at conclusions and derives clarity.
A wise man will never have a preference for sukha and prejudice to duhkha. He will understand that they are inevitable whenever senses and objects come into contact. A seeker must strive to sublimate sukha-duhkha, take away preference to sukha and eliminate prejudice to duhkha. When the preference and prejudice are gone, the mind will be graced with sublimity, serenity and expansion. The mind will become free and flexible. Then it will be able to assimilate any kind of impact, birth-death, fortune-misfortune. This way, one can evenize all the world impacts.
So, the intelligence of a seeker should analyze life, analyze the world and arrive at conclusions. One must be harmonious with both sukha and duhkha.
The mind will be lighter, poised and the world will not overpower the mind. To understand this, the intelligence has to be sharp, intuitive, perceptive and studious.
