Launch of SIRD's new initiative - Kalvi Maiyam (08-September-2024)

01 October 2024

‘Kalvi Maiyam’ was officially launched on September 8 by Poojya Swamiji as part of the newly inaugurated Atithi Niketan facility. This center is dedicated to supporting underprivileged Indian students in enhancing their academic performance and self-confidence through focused programs in Malay, English, Science, and Mathematics. Character building and self-expression are also integral to this initiative.

The event commenced with a traditional garlanding of Poojya Swamiji and Swamini Ma Gurupriya ji, followed by the lighting of a ceremonial lamp. The emcee, Segaran ji, conducted the program in both Tamil and English, ensuring inclusivity for the 130 participants, which primarily included children and their parents. SIRD expressed heartfelt gratitude to Nisha ji’s family for their contributions, as well as to Ms. Parimala for her efforts in organizing the attendees.

In his address, Swamiji emphasized the significance of harnessing the mind and intelligence and remarked that education, especially for disadvantaged students, is a lifelong treasure and the greatest resource one can possess. Swamiji introduced the center’s motto, “Vidya Dhanam Sarva Dhanaat Pradhaanam,” underscoring that sharing knowledge is the noblest contribution to society. Swamiji also encouraged building strong relationships with both students and parents. Ma shared her joy at witnessing Swamiji’s long-held vision come to fruition, expressing hope that teachers and volunteers would grow alongside the children.

The event concluded with the distribution of prasad, Kalvi Maiyam bags, and goody bags to the children, leaving everyone inspired and united.
