Gurupoornima Retreat - 2024 - Discourse based on Bhagavad Gita followed by Q/A.

In this discourse, Swamiji says that by repeated reading and introspection, the Bhagavad Gita message must be understood and realized by a seeker.
Sri Krishna, initially, analyzed the grief of Arjuna saying that wise people understand the inevitability of death and so they do not grieve over the dead or the living. He, then spoke about the ever-present, unchanging, immortal Atma, the real identity.
Arjuna is then given an ever-relevant formula that can be applied in any life situation. When senses come in contact with objects, there are only two responses—happiness (sukha) and misery (duhkha). They are transitory. One must forbear them.
In the inner plane, there is an emergence of both Sukha and duhkha. Both emerge from and subside into the same neutral presence. So, the content of both sukha and duhkha are the same. The ‘I’, in which sukha-duhkha arise and subside, has never become happy or unhappy. Understanding this, one who is not tormented or deluded by sukha and duhkha and one who has an equal vision towards them, is fit for immortality.
Swamiji urges all seekers to learn to swim in the sukha-duhkha waters, by reflecting on their reality. This Samatva is the formula to face any challenge in the world.
