Discourses on Vivekachudamani during 48th Annual Delhi Jnana Yajna at CIRD Delhi on 28 March 2024.
Verses 381, 382

In this Satsang, Swamiji takes everyone on an inner journey, giving a touch of the divine. He explains that the body is inert and has no potential to generate any experience. The body is animated and activated by the inner presence. We are a living body which is enlivened by the sentience within. All experiences are subjective. Though objects are incidental in causing experiences, experience by itself is subjective, inner and personal.

The Self is self-luminous and is the witness of all. It is in the nature of knowledge. A seeker must make it his supreme goal in life. He must introspect on the inner presence which is the only Sat (real) entity. If a seeker succeeds in knowing the Truth, life becomes meaningful and truthful.

A spiritual aspirant must make a practice of thinking about the inner presence without any interruption. When thinking about the inner presence, he must not have any alien or disturbing thoughts. The purpose of such one-pointed, focussed thinking is to know what the mind is, what the source of thoughts is, what knowledge is!

The intelligence must be made sharp and subtle and it must introspect on the body (which is inert) and the mind (which produces all experiences). The Sadhaka must focus on the mind and make it a regular practice. This Tattva Vichara will guide one to a state of psychological sufficiency and fullness.

Vivekachudamani says that a seeker must have strong, unshakeable Aatmatva (the conviction that “I am the Atma”). He must renounce the feeling of ego and the feeling of ‘me’ and ‘mine’. He must feel that family, worldly possessions are trifling, like cracked pots, and have an attitude of indifference towards them. Along with dispassion, the understanding: “I am the inner Presence” must govern the seeker. Swamiji emphasizes that with this knowledge, a seeker will be able to live in the world effectively and face all challenges with poise.
