How often is our mind truly in the present, rather than dwelling in the past or mulling over an imagined future? The Jeevanmukta’s mind is always so, reveals Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha as we continue our exploration of the sthitaprajna state.
The hallmarks of a Jeevanmukta, one who is liberated while remaining in the body, are beautifully described by Swamiji, showing us very clearly that spirituality is meant for active life not end of life. The absorptive stithaprajna state is a stepping stone to realizing the Self. With deeper and more truthful introspection, the mind itself becomes the Consciousness, transcending even the Subject-object differentiation to culminate in non-differential vision. By soaking in the wisdom of our Spiritual Teachers, we slowly move towards that eternal abode of fearlessness and ever-lasting contentment, where the whole life becomes nothing but a joyful sport.
