Starting from the worship of a religious god, who is apparently far away and not easily accessible, a seeker gradually begins to search for the same God within and discovers him as the unmistakable presence animating his whole being. But even then, there exists a sense of separation between oneself and the rest of the creation, due to which one undergoes misery.

Nutan Swamiji enlightens us that, only with the final discovery of the truth - that the whole creation (including our body and mind) is merely an appearance in Self, one attains eternal bliss. Only then the realization becomes wholesome!
