Lecture by Nutan Swamiji based on Chapter 14 of Bhagavad Gita during Sadhana Shibiram in Society for Inner Resources Development, Malaysia on 29 January 2023.
Swamiji, in this Satsang, reiterates the fact that the whole Prakriti (Nature) is made of gunas and our body-mind personality (which is a part of Nature) is also made of gunas. The gunas function everywhere. But we posit an ego to whatever happens in our body-mind personality and say: “I have done this. I am the doer and enjoyer,” not understanding that everything is the function of the gunas. In consequence, all the three gunas bind us.
Bhagavad Gita points out that despite the binding effects of the gunas, there is a way of transcending them.
A knower of Truth does not see himself as the doer or experiencer because he has perceived That (the Self) which transcends the gunas. A Gunatita is free of all bondage created by the gunas. When a person understands that his own personality is made of the three gunas and it is a play of gunas going on in the world, he is never affected by anything at all. He never develops sanga.
The gunatita does not get affected by any situation and does not get entangled in likes and dislikes. He lives and acts being above the three gunas. A knower is always performing all actions remaining in tune with the infinite Self.
Swamiji will be discussing 'Voice of Upanishads'. The Global Satsang will be based on Isa Upanishad. | Live Satsangs with Spiritual Masters on Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday at 8 pm IST/10:30 am EDT/ 10:30 pm MST.
