In this talk, Nutan Swamiji elucidates the importance of rituals as well as the upanishadic knowledge, described in the Vedas.

While it is the realization of Supreme Truth which brings everlasting happiness, the reality is that an overwhelming majority of population is not fit or interested in taking up spiritual enquiry. One has to cultivate good virtues, purify the mind, emotions and buddhi inorder to pursue the final goal. The vedic rituals when performed in accordance to prescriptions, are intended to discipline, purify and transform our personality.

Swamiji tells us that all yagas, yajnas or worship are intended to inculcate these virtues alone. Without them the knowledge will remain like a picture of fire, it will not serve any practical purpose. So, the rituals in reality beautifully compliments the upanishadic declarations of vedas!
