In this Satsang, Swamiji summarizes the first five Mantras of the Upanishad. He reminds the listeners that spiritual knowledge is different from all objective knowledge. The ultimate knowledge must be a first-hand experience for the seeker whereby all the delusion and ignorance are removed.

Ashvalayana went to Brahma (the creator) seeking the Supreme Brahma Vidya, by attaining which all constrictions and limitations are dissolved and one attains the Supreme. Brahma replied that the Supreme Knowledge is attained by Shraddha, Bhakti and Dhyana Yoga.

Shraddha is the value that we give to the Supreme Truth. Bhagavad Gita says that man is an embodiment of his Shraddha. Whatever we value most, we become that. But anything we do without giving it value, is futile.

Bhakti is the one-pointed devotion one has towards the Supreme Knowledge. When a seeker attains the pinnacle of Bhakti, he attains Brahman. Such a one, has a placid mind which is free from likes and dislikes and is cheerful. He does not get depressed in sorrow or elated in happiness. He remains tranquil, equal and calm.

Dhyana Yoga (Vedantic Meditation) leads to the merger of the small ‘I’ in the Universal ‘I’ (the Supreme non-dual Truth). When Shraddha and Bhakti remove all the distractions from the mind, meditation will effortlessly follow.

The Supreme is not attained by any rituals or desire-motivated actions or by man-power but only by renunciation of one’s ego. Pure-minded seekers, becoming Self-Realized, transcend death and attain immortality. By untying all the knots of their own personality, they become liberated.

Swamiji will be discussing 'Voice of Upanishads'. The Global Satsang will be based on Kaivalya Upanishad. | Live Satsangs with Spiritual Masters on Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday at 8 pm IST/10:30 am EDT/ 10:30 pm MST.
