In the discussion of the 4th Chapter of Bhagavad Gita, Swamiji again explains Shraddha (assiduous application) in detail. Gaining of knowledge is directly proportional to assiduous application of the mind and intelligence on the teaching.
Only one who is assiduously attentive, who has interest in Subject Knowledge, and whose senses are regulated, can gain knowledge. After gaining knowledge, he attains Supreme peace. An ignorant man, a man who does not have shraddha and who is doubtful, is destroyed.
Discussing knowledge, Swamiji says that Knowledge is the greatest persuasion in human life. To have this knowledge, one must assiduously apply the mind and intelligence and follow the Sadhana instructed by the Guru. This knowledge removes all delusions, and burns off all ignorance. It purifies the mind, sharpens the intelligence and sublimates the ego. It makes the whole personality brilliant. Knowledge is transformative, leading to enrichment and empowerment. It takes away all conflicts and disharmony.
Bhagavad Gita's wisdom is about the human personality, the complexity of the world and the interaction between the two. Arjuna's transformative journey was due to his attentive listening, seeking clarifications, and embracing knowledge to overcome doubt and ignorance.
