In this profound, enlightening session, Swamiji concludes his talks on Kaivalya Upanishad by classifying and summarizing the Upanishad according to the Sadhana of a seeker of Truth.

Ashvalayana goes to Brahma (the creator) seeking Brahma Vidya by which one can transcend all constrictions and attain the goal of life. Brahma shows him the way to immortality saying that it can be attained only by shraddha, devotion, meditation and by renunciation of the ego, desires, preference and prejudice etc.

The Upanishad gives the step-by-step process by which a seeker can advance in the spiritual path. It states that a seeker must meditate on the inmost presence, which is unchanging, pure and auspicious. One must focus on the transcendental cause of creation, which is the Witness of all and which transcends time and causality. The Upanishad also urges seekers to use the churning rod of knowledge to churn the mind and intelligence, to burn off all worldliness and selfishness.

The Upanishad slowly takes an aspirant from the individual dimension to the universal dimension, saying that the Brahman is One, unfragmented, blissful. It is the substratum of the external universe, as well as our internal faculties. That Supreme Brahman is the Antaratma of all beings.

Having absorbed the knowledge given by the Guru, the seeker realizes the Self. He identifies with the Brahman. He proclaims: “I am the non-dual Brahman, which is eternal, ultimate auspiciousness; I am the Witness of the entire creation; I transcend ‘existence’ and non-existence’.” Knowing this Truth, he becomes That.
